Sandra was a substitute teacher for a few years, mostly focusing on the middle and high school levels, after earning a degree in education from Central Michigan University in 1969. She left teaching to focus on raising a family. She was an avid reader and crafter, and could often be found working on a variety of crochet, felt, needlepoint and other projects. She enjoyed staying active and doing things for others, volunteering her time for Easter Seals of Michigan for their annual telethon for many years and assisting with their annual bazaars and other projects. She was a very involved parent in all of her daughter's school activities. She loved creating family gatherings for holidays and other special occasions and was always ready to lend a hand if she learned of a need. She was an avid baker and enjoyed trying new recipes for family and friends to enjoy.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Neil; daughter, Erica; siblings, Michael Torrento and Kathleen (the late Randall J.) Farmer; sisters-in-law Nancy (the late Larry) Savage and Laurie (Michael) Rampton; nieces, Crystal Torrento, Lauren (Josh) Schultz and Lindsey (Jeff) Young; great-nieces, Audrina, Ava, Sophia; great-nephew, James and family friend, Yvonne Stehle.
