Stanley "Stan" Michael Jankauskas was born on May 5, 1953, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to Stanley and Catherine Jankauskas. After a 23-year battle with end stage kidney failure, Stan passed away at home on November 30, 2025, at the age of 72. He was a resident of New Braunfels, Texas for 40 years and recently resided in Chesterfield, Michigan.
Stan grew up in Steger, Illinois, surrounded by lots of close family and friends. He started working from a young age, running a paper route in his neighborhood, and throughout his life held a variety of different jobs including serving as a police officer in Sauk Village, IL, working at his brother-in-law's window company, managing and repairing vending machines throughout Central Texas, and assembling custom off-road capable powered wheelchairs.
Stan was an enthusiastic handyman and had a tool for nearly every task. His faith played an important role in his life. He was a very active member of Cross Lutheran Church in New Braunfels, Texas. Stan enjoyed sharing life stories with everyone he met. If there was a listening ear nearby, he kindly offered words of advice for all aspects of life.
Stan was the beloved husband of 43 years to Sandra Jankauskas. Loving father to Joseph Jankauskas and Julia (the late Daniel) Evola. Devoted grandfather to Emilia and Liliana. Dear brother to Bea Fodor and Michael Jankauskas. Uncle to Steve (Heather) Fodor, Diane (Bernie) Mattes, Michael (Nicole) Schoppa, Scott (Carrie) Holder, Krista Holder, Katie Roberts, and Josh (Arnie) Schoppa. Preceding Stan in death were his parents, Stanley & Catherine, in-laws, Elmer & Liselotte, brother-in-law, Les, brother, John, brother-in-law, Harvey, sister-in-law, Betty, niece, Jessica, and son-in-law, Daniel. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Service for Stanley will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, beginning with viewing at 10:00 am, until time of service at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church 38900 Harper Ave., Clinton Township, Michigan 48036.
Memorial donations in memory of Stan are suggested to Toys for Tots or the American Kidney Fund.
