Wadad A. Herrala “Woodie”, age 96, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away on July 24, 2021. She was the beloved wife of almost 50 years to late Arthur “Art” (dec. January 2021); Dear sister of Joe (Ann) Neme, Dick (Irene) Neme and Marlene Neme (Bill McFeely) and dearest sister-in-law to Carmen (Yvonne) Herrala; Treasured aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Backus and Maria Neme and siblings Alvera Simon, Fred Neme, Bill Neme, Emily Neme and Michael Neme.
Woodie was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 13, 1925, and was the 3rd child of 9 children. She met her husband, Art, while working for Boblo Boats. They married on February 19, 1971, and they shared almost 50 great years of marriage. They traveled practically all over the world together, but also enjoyed golfing and bowling, and time out on their small craft boat. Woodie also enjoyed trips to the casino, and was a good card player. She will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 4-9 PM, with a scripture service at 7 PM, at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. An instate will follow on Saturday morning at 9 AM, until time of funeral mass at 9:30 AM St. Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313. Memorial contributions may be made in Woodie’s memory to the Detroit Goodfellows, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
