He was an accomplished automotive, boat and industrial designer in various parts of the country, including Florida and Vermont, before moving to Michigan. He dedicated 27 years of his career to General Motors in design and market research roles. His artistic talents were exemplified by how he meticulously designed his family home and woodshop in Chesterfield, Michigan. In retirement, he created numerous historical pieces, many of which were displayed at an American woodcrafters show at the Detroit Institute of Arts and now cherished by his family. In his younger years, he was an avid boater and sailed in a Mackinac Race. Inspired by his youngest son, James, he was a devoted advocate for people with disabilities and formerly served as the Board President of Macomb Academy, an organization dedicated to empowering young adults into independent living.
Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life gathering will be held July 19, 2025.
