Andrew (Andy) John Camoroda passed away on February 18, 2024, at home with his family after a short battle with influenza and pneumonia. He was born on August 29, 1932, in Fresno, California, to Tony and Delia Camoroda.
Andrew attended San Joaquin Memorial High School, spent two years in the Navy, and graduated from Fresno State in 1961. He taught middle school math for three years, then had a long and successful career at CalTrans as a Right-of-way Agent. Post retirement, Andrew had a very satisfying and rewarding life, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed travel and people, meeting and talking to many strangers who became friends through the years. He also enjoyed being a lifelong learner, obtaining licenses in Real Estate and Brokerage, as well as completing a few Law courses.
Andrew and Phyllis were married for over 62 years. He is survived by his three children, Susan Camoroda (her spouse Celine Maurais), Karen Camoroda, and Sara Camoroda, and six grandchildren, Joshua, Anthony, and Ashley Canfield; Sean and Brian Donavan, and Jessica Donovan-Spears (her husband Garrett), as well as his brother, Anthony Camoroda and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Andrew and Phyllis attended every sports event their children and grandchildren participated in, whether they were the star player or played 'the bench'. An avid amateur woodworker, Andrew enjoyed creating projects and furniture for his family, many pieces that remain cherished and in use still. Everyone who met Andrew took an immediate liking to him, with his sunny personality, big smile and genuine interest in their lives and interests.
Later in life Andrew suffered from some balance issues that were undetermined by medical professionals. Thus, he chose to donate his body to science through the organization Science Care in the hope that "one day someone will figure out why", and this information would help others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at Peoples Church - Chapel, 7172 N Cedar Ave, Fresno, CA 93720
