Artemio Floresca, age 80, of Clovis, California was called home to the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2023. Artemio was born in Natividad, Naguilian, Philippines to Filomena Floresca and Pedro Floresca, who preceded him in death.
Artemio lived a full and wonderful life. He immigrated to the United States and settled in Juneau, Alaska, in 1969, which was far and vastly different from the country of his birth. Through hard work and perseverance, he learned how to cook and eventually worked as a chief cook for the ferry system with the State of Alaska for 27 years before retiring. During his life, Artemio met many people and made many friends. Before moving to California, he had been an active member of the Filipino-American Association and participated in various community events, including community litter pick-ups. He was a generous, friendly man, who was always willing to help those in need, especially when it came to family.
Artemio was a devoted husband and father. Together with his wife, Estrella, they built a home together in Juneau, where they raised their 3 children. Every winter he made sure that his wife's car was clean from snow and frost each morning before work and that the driveway was clear of snow. For years, he dutifully - and patiently - shuttled his children to sporting events, music lessons, and music performances. He further endured grueling hours of his children practicing their instruments with no complaint. And after years of pleading from his children, he finally broke down and got them a dog, who he taught to fetch his slippers, much to his utter delight. Artemio loved his dogs just as much as they loved him.
Artemio was an avid fan of WWE wrestling and NBA basketball. In high school, he had been the captain of his basketball team. He shared his love of basketball with his son, who also played high school basketball. Artemio also enjoyed music. One of his favorite artists was Celine Dion, who he saw perform live in Las Vegas in 2011.
Artemio is survived by his wife of 52 years, Estrella R. Floresca; his daughter Leslie Floresca; his daughter Ella Floresca Soltis (William); and his son Alan Floresca (Kristen). Artemio also leaves behind 3 grandchildren - William, Jr., Grace, and Theodore - to cherish his memory.
