

"Cordial" Cordell Laird was born on December 21, 1940 & had three brothers-Van, Dee & younger brother Venter. The boys were raised by grandmother Laird in both Texas & Salinas, California. At 17, Cordell joined the Navy where he served three years and received his honorable discharge. After the military, Cordell pursued his music career. It came as natural as breathing. His music career presented several opportunities to play with professional artist & host his own Country Music Radio show.
In 1967, Cordell met Sharon Joy. By 1969, they were married. In 1973, Cordell, Sharon & their two children Jaime & David, moved to Friant where they bought "The Lake Millerton Inn & Motel." For 38 years Cordell entertained the public. Being so close to the lake, boating, fishing & skiing became a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed wood cutting with his son.
As much as he loved music & outdoors, Cordell had an even greater passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. On April 26, 2011, Cordell climbed on his Harley & road off into the sunset.
Cordell is survived by his wife Sharon Joy; son, David; daughter-in-law, Sally; daughter, Jaime. Grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jennifer, Genae, Joseph, Janalise, Ashton, Naomi, Crystal & Cora. Great grandchildren, MacKenzie & Kayden.
