Barbara "Rojo" Aileen Barnett/Baird, age 81, of Clovis, California, peacefully entered rest on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born in Connersville, Indiana to Luke and Marie Abercrombie, Barbara’s legacy lives on through her loving family and friends.
Barbara was a woman of many passions. Her love for music started before she walked as the Abercrombie family loved musical instruments and singing. She, her brother and sisters harmonized beautifully, and this talent filtered down to other generations. She loved talking about her days with the Stillwater Band which put her on stage with her close friends Gary and Debi Harstad and her son Tod. Barbara loved listening to her favorite songs throughout the day (classic country, easy listening and faith filled tunes) in her later years, Alexa became technology she appreciated. She enjoyed spending time on her computer and Facebook. She loved to travel and play video poker and solitaire. Her favorite color was green. While she lived in California for 5 years before her passing, her home was in Montana. During winter months her conversations were largely around getting to her cabin in Roscoe Montana to relax and listen to the river run outside her door. She had many close friends and family members. One of her most loyal admirers was her dog, Indigo. Indigo never left her side other than for an occasional Dr. appointment.
As a Registered Nurse, mainly in geriatrics, Barbara’s caring nature shone brightly, as she was always the first to offer help to anyone in need, whether it be a neighbor, friend, or family member. Barbara’s joyful spirit, love of life, and strong work ethic made her an unforgettable presence to all who knew her.
Her deep faith in Jesus was a cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort and strength in reading her Bible.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Bristol Hospice. They would like to thank Barbara’s hospice nurses, Tiffany, Hahn, and Sandra in California and Becky Werholz in Roscoe Montana, for their exceptional care, as well as Chaplain Mark for providing comforting words in her final days. They would also like to thank her friends in Montana Tom George, Earl and Monte Ostrum for always lending a helping hand to Barbara and her late husband Dean with heavy lifting at the cabin and stopping by for coffee in the morning to visit.
Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She is greatly missed but never forgotten.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Tawnya Clark/Gardner (Scott), son Tod Clark (Kathy) and Brandy/Perry Tschappler (Steve), her brother Leroy Abercrombie, sisters Brenda Hammett and Marcella Kestner; as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her.
