Bobbie Sue Furin passed away on May 17, 2025, in Fresno, California, at the age of 87. Born on March 11, 1938, in Alba, Texas, Bobbie was the child of Roscoe and Odell Hazelwood. Her early years were spent in Alba before the family relocated to Dallas, where Bobbie attended elementary school and later graduated from Crozier Tech High School.
While in Dallas, Bobbie met Donald R. Furin during his service with the U.S. Air Force. The two married and shared a devoted union that spanned 65 years. Together, they began their life in Erie, Pennsylvania, before settling in the Fresno/Clovis area of California, where they raised their four children. Don operated Teledata Services while Bobbie balanced work and family responsibilities with dedication.
Bobbie held various positions throughout her career, including night shifts as an operator at St. Agnes Hospital and the Fresno Bee. She later worked for the State of California in both the Disability Evaluation and Fish & Wildlife Departments. Her love for nature made her time with Fish & Wildlife especially meaningful. Bobbie also took pride in contributing to “Becoming an Outdoors Woman” (BOW), a program that aligned with her passion for the outdoors.
In retirement, Bobbie and Don enjoyed traveling extensively in their motor home, cherishing time spent exploring new places together. Above all else, Bobbie treasured moments shared with family.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Don and their son Mark Furin. She is survived by their son Joe Furin (Laurie Ann), daughter Patti D’Alessandro (Jeff), and son Steve Furin; as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A service to honor Bobbie’s life will be held on June 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, California, 93612.
