Carolyn was born in Port Angeles, Washington on July 13, 1932 to Eugene and Maybelle LaCasse. As a young girl, her family moved to Fresno, California. She graduated from Fresno High and went to work for the telephone company. Shortly after marrying John, she joined him at Ft. Benning, Georgia upon completion of his basic training in the United States Army. Carol quickly embraced the military life and over the next 20 years, she enjoyed assignments in Georgia, New York, Texas, Germany, and South Carolina.
Upon John’s retirement, they moved home to California where they opened Scarborough Realty. After several years, she went to work for the Older Americans Organization, specifically the Senior Aides Program. She worked there for 20 years before deciding to retire.
Carol loved life. She especially loved time spent with family and friends snow skiing, traveling, and entertaining. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Steven Scarborough and Brent Smith, Dawn and Alan Moore, Kim Herman, Kathy Ingersol, John Scarborough III, and Beth Smith. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband John Royce Scarborough; her father Eugene LaCasse and her mother Maybelle LaCasse.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hinds Hospice particularly, Mike Davis, Dr. Darden, and Mya and her caregivers Gilda, Angie, and Maria for their kind and compassionate care.
A Memorial Service for Carolyn will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
