Charlotte Jane (Brown) Gabrielson went to be with the Lord in Fresno, CA Tuesday October 27, 2020 at the age of 98 years 7 months. She was born on the family farm South of Paullina, Iowa on March 2, 1922.
She attended Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Free Church College in Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her Husband John Gabrielson just one year ago.
She married her College sweetheart in 1944. A cute story she would tell about their honeymoon was she went with John and three other men to Minnesota to sing at Revival Meetings. The four men sang in a quartet. They were from Trinity Free Church College. “That was some Honeymoon!!”
She always made homemade lye soap and washed clothes in a wringer washing machine for the eight of us! She did lots of baking and on Saturday she would make homemade donuts and breads while we were growing up! When we visited, later in our lives, she would always get up at 3 to 4 a.m. and make homemade donuts and rolls to have fresh for our breakfast!
John, her husband was a Pastor over the years. They served nine churches in the Midwest. Charlotte was a beautiful extension of John’s Ministry as a Pastor’s wife! She used many of the gifts the Lord gave her to serve the Lord! Some of them included hospitality, cooking and baking for her family and many others, children’s ministries, women’s ministries, serving on several boards in the Midwest District, and cooked at several Bible Camps. These were just a few of her talents!
She always had her door open for anyone that needed an ear to listen and a cup of coffee and of course there was always fresh baked goods to share! She had such a “servants heart!” She was persistent about her faith and witnessing to others! She led many souls to Christ! She never knew a stranger! No matter where she was, she would talk about the Lord, invite them to church and to dinner! She was so good about calling he friends and family just to talk and encourage them! Through all of these past months she always remained cheerful!
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, John of 75 years, her son David, her parents, two sisters and a brother, and many more friends and family members.
She leaves behind a loving brother Alex Brown and his wife Lois of Sioux Falls, SD and a sister-in-law, Mary Boise of Walkerton, Indiana; 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her children, Paul and Mary Gabrielson and wife Mary from Fresno, CA; Donna Youngquist and her husband Rodney from Lincoln, NE; Dan Gabrielson and his wife Jessica from Fresno, CA; David Gabrielson who died in 1969 (a twin to Dan); Karen Hadley and her Husband, Frank from Loomis, NE; and Chris Pettibon from Fresno, CA.
Serving as pallbearers are Tim Gabrielson , Scott Gabrielson, Mark Youngquist , Matt Youngquist, Craig Hadley , Mike Hadley, Andy Newville , Josh Newville and Trever Pettibon.
There will be Celebration of Life at the Clovis Evangelical Free Church on November 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. The address is 2377 Armstrong Avenue, Clovis, CA 93611.
