Debbie was born to Alice Frances Wren and Delbert Sydney Wren in Lynwood, Ca on September 24, 1956. Debbie spent most of her childhood in California with parents who loved the Lord. Debbie made a profession of faith at a young age, with her mother leading her to the Lord around the age of 9. Debbie and her family later moved to Oregon where Debbie Graduated from South Salem High School in 1974. Her father graduated from Seminary around the same time and the Lord led their family to Tonasket, Washington in 1976.
Debbie soon moved to Wenatchee, WA to attend college. She attended East Wenatchee First Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life, Curt Hulsey; at a church picnic. They began dating in July of 1978, were engaged by October of 1978, and married the following year June 30, 1979. Debbie and Curt had their first child, Christopher Hulsey on November 9, 1980. Shortly after his birth Debbie graduated from Wenatchee Valley College in 1981. Their second son, Cory Hulsey was born on October 13, 1982.
In June of 1985, Debbie and Curt moved to Clovis, CA where they raised their two boys. Debbie worked in several different medical offices throughout her life. When the boys were young adults, still living at home; the family decided to move to Auberry, CA. In this home, they enjoyed their mountain property by way of gardens and horses. Curt and Debbie both loved horses and enjoyed this part of their life. Family barbeques were a favorite during this season of life.
Debbie and Curt’s world soon changed as their first granddaughter was born Dec 30th of 2010 to Christopher and Kaitlyn Hulsey. Just two days later their second granddaughter was born Jan 1st of 2011 to Cory Hulsey and Jessica Brough. These 2 girls were such a joy to Debbie, and she loved her grandchildren very much. She did everything she could to invest God’s love into all of her grandchildren. Debbie loved sewing special things for the grandkids, she made them special Christmas pajamas every year.
In 2012 Debbie and her husband moved back to Clovis, CA. In 2019, Debbie retired. She was blessed to enjoy the last few years of her life traveling with her husband and spending as much time with the grandkids as possible. Debbie enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports and she especially loved teaching the kids what she loved, sewing. Debbie was doing the work of the Lord, investing in not only her grandchildren, but other children by teaching a weekly sewing class to an entire co-op of homeschoolers. She would present a bible lesson and then teach the group a sewing lesson.
Debbie was a true servant, loving the Lord with her whole heart. Debbie was an amazing Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all that loved her, but we are so happy to know she is enjoying life in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Alice Wren. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Curtis Hulsey; eldest son Christopher Hulsey, wife Kaitlyn, their five children; Kaydence, Calhen, Kenzington, Colson, Kaliyah of Winton, CA; her youngest son Cory Hulsey, his three children; Alyscon, Anthony, and Asher of Clovis, CA; her brother Dave Wren and her four nieces.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
2 Timothy 4: 7-8
Debbie fought a good fight and finished her course for the Lord here on earth. Debbie would want to encourage anyone who does not know Jesus as their Lord Savior, to not wait any longer. If you don’t have assurance of your salvation like Debbie did, please get that settled before it’s too late.
