My memories of Grandma are numerous and span my entire thirty-five years. It's hard to narrow them down to a favorite, so I'll give some highlights:  finding kittens in her wood pile // picking me up from school/sports practice in elementary and middle school // helping with costumes for ballets // doing my hair for shows (most notably the extreme hair gel and super tight rollers for Clara, to give me ringlets for approximately twelve hours before needing to do it again) // swimming in the pool at her condo // loaning me her car for my driving test // hiring me to clean her house so that I could have a little extra money // crushing cans in her garage // eating her delicious cooking (peach cobbler, lasagna, and corned beef/cabbage especially) // watching tennis and baseball with her // having mexican food for lunch // sharing pictures of my wedding // introducing her to my son // our last hug, which I suspected would be our last and didn't want to let go.

When I think of Grandma I think of her in her old house. I smell the gardenia bushes in the backyard and think of sitting with her under the olive tree with a blanket and picnic lunch. I remember sitting at the kitchen table watching her prepare German sausage. German sausage and buttered noodles were always available when spending time with her. We would usually end up on the couch watching Beaches or Fried Green Tomatoes.  Saturday mornings would be French toast with Karo Syrup and Sheerah cartoons. I remember sleepovers with her in her king size bed. The windows would always be open and the cool night air would spread the scent of the Vicks she would wear under her nose every night. 

One time when she came to visit in Utah she taught us how to make Beerocks. It is one of the funnest memories I have of her and all the girls in my family as we were all in the kitchen together making this family favorite together. 

I miss her. I miss her smell, and her voice. Her hugs and her kind words and encouragement. I love you Grandma. ❤️

They start from when we were little, playing tiddlywinks and listening to Anne Murray, to trips to the Met for every special event, but our favorite was the Christmas Trees. 
She made my graduation dress, told me I was beautiful in a wedding dress, fell in love with my children and supported me through my divorce. 
We did grocery shopping and got her hair done, ate Chinese food and saw movies. She loved hearing about what I was learning in school and the last few months of her life we would have Friday afternoon snuggles in her bed and she’d ask me if my tattoos would ever wash off. 
Dementia is a beast, but those moments where she was clear were priceless. I am so thankful for having her as a part of my entire life. 

Grandma would pick us up from school on Wednesdays for early out and take us for ice cream, and we'd hang out until it was time to go home.
