

Elizabeth Lillian Marquardt, of Fresno, peacefully went home to the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 102. Her family gathered to say goodbye before she passed. Elizabeth was born in Los Angeles, mid-summer of 1922 to Andrew and Mette Petersen.
Elizabeth attended Boyle Heights schools from elementary through high school and went on to attend Metropolitan Junior College. During WWII, Elizabeth lived at Camp Roberts where she worked for Lockheed as a riveter on airplane engines. She went on to work at Chely Air Force Base, Maywood where she met and married her husband, Elden (Mark) that lasted 61 years. She was a proud military wife and a government employee.
She lived in Yokosuka, Japan; West Ruislip, England; and Wiesbaden, Germany and after returning to the United States, lived in Washington DC and Macon, Georgia. Eventually Liz and Mark returned to San Jose, California where she worked at Moffett Field - NASA Ames Research Center until her retirement in 1986. The couple moved to Pine Mountain Lake in Groveland, California. She attended Groveland EV Free Church, and was a member of the Groveland Hiking Club. Elizabeth also enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge. In 2017 Elizabeth returned to Fresno, California to be closer to her family and lived at the California Armenian Home.
She was known for her sharp memory and beautiful clothes. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Elizabeth's life was characterized by her attention to detail and beauty in her garden. She will be remembered for her love of her mountain home in Pine Mtn Lake, where she planted her 1 1/2 acre garden overlooking the Tuolumne River Basin.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bohan; her granddaughters Wendy Ciruli (David), Katie Baca (Greg) and her granddaughter-in-law Diane Bohan (Christopher). Her great Grandchildren include Lola and Cooper Ciruli; great Granddaughters Amy Bishop, Gracie Jette (Gavin), and Emily Cypert (Josh), Grandsons Benjamin Bohan (Elvira), Andrew Bohan and her great, great Grandsons Ezra Bohan and Luke Cypert.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Elden Marquardt.
A private family ceremony will be held at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, California.
