James William Sorenson, a brave, hard-working, and devoted individual, entered into rest on August 31, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on May 18, 1929, in New Rockford, North Dakota, James was a resident of Clovis, California.
James had a distinguished career with the United States Navy Corps and later served as an Insurance Manager specializing in commercial-liability insurance for 50 years. His dedication and work ethic left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
He is survived by his sons, Tom Sorenson of Clovis, California, and Bill Sorenson of Portland, Oregon. James was a proud grandfather to Stacey Esqueda, Stephanie Jocom, Melissa Dickson, Kevin Sorenson, and Jonathan Sorenson. He is also remembered by his great-grandchildren: Luke Esqueda, Logan Esqueda, Devin Jocom, Jayden Jocom, Levi Dickson, Jared Dickson, Alana Dickson, Zoe Dickson, Chace Sorenson, Mason Sorenson, and Presley Sorenson. His legacy continues with his great-great-grandchildren, Adalade Dickson and Bransen Dickson.
James was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis Sorenson, as well as his parents, William Sigurd Sorenson and Eva (Levi) Sorenson.
A Life Celebration will be held in his honor at Boice Funeral Home, located at 308 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, California, in the Chapel. The service will take place on October 3, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
James will be laid to rest at Williamette National Cemetery, situated at 11800 South East Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, Oregon. His life and contributions will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
