Jan Allene Merlo, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 8, 2026. She was born in Fresno, CA, on September 4, 1953, to parents Marvin and Betty Wild. She attended Sanger High School, where she met her beloved husband, Fred Joseph Merlo. They married on September 7, 1974, in Fresno, CA.
She was married to Fred for 51 years and built a life centered on love, laughter, and shared adventure. Together they raised four children, Mark William Merlo, Beth Marie Merlo, Rick Lewis Merlo, and Curt Lee Merlo, each of whom was her pride and joy. Her family continued to grow with the arrival of seven grandchildren, who knew her as a constant source of warmth, encouragement, and unconditional love. Nothing brought her greater happiness than having her family together. She had a special gift for creating moments that became memories. Her home was always open, welcoming, and filled with love.
In addition to her devotion to family, she was a respected and accomplished business owner. For 47 years, she co-owned and operated an electrical contracting company, Wild Electric, where her dedication, integrity, and hard work earned the trust of colleagues and clients alike. She took great pride in her work and built a business that reflected her values of reliability, fairness, and perseverance.
She is survived by her husband, four children, and seven grandchildren. They, along with a wide circle of family and friends, will carry her memory forward.
Her life was well lived, and her love will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
