Josefa Vasquez, of Fresno CA, went into the hands of her Lord Jesus Christ on on December 9, 2021 at the age of 78. Josefa, or Pepa as she was known by those closest to her, was born October 28, 1943 in Weslaco TX. She spent her youth in Weslaco with her brother and four sisters, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Francisco Vasquez. After several years as high school sweethearts, upon graduating, Josefa moved out to California on her own but their love was too great for them to remain apart, and Frank soon followed her to California. Not long after, they sealed their love before God in marriage and the two of them were inseparable for the rest of their lives.
Josefa lived a life of service to her family, her community and most of all, to Jesus. Her faith was deep and her love of God was always the center of her life. John 15:12-13 God tell us “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you,” and this was exactly how Josefa lived her life. She was always ready to welcome anyone who showed up at her doorstep with a big smile, a warm hug, a laugh like sunshine and as much food as you could eat. It didn't matter who you were or how well she knew you, she was always ready to love you and care for you like family. She was a beacon of love and light that brightened the world around her. Her greatest joy was motherhood and raising and caring for children, and while God only gave her one child of her own and one Grandchild, she blessed many more children in the community with her love and care throughout the years of her life.
Josefa is survived by her husband Frank, her son Ruben and her Grandson Isaiah. Her legacy of faith, kindness, generosity and joy lives on in the hearts of her entire extended family and the community that loved her.
Isaiah 41: 10, 13
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
