Lincy Marie Mayfield went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2021 at the age of 74. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home, just as she always wanted. We send to Heaven a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Born on March 30, 1946 in Fresno, California, Lincy was the daughter of Francis Vercher Sowell and Robert Mayfield, both of Louisiana. She attended Cooper Middle School and Edison High School, graduating in 1965. After attending Moler Barber College and Fresno City College, Lincy worked as a barber and beautician for several years before raising her three children as a full-time homemaker. Residing mostly in the Pinedale Area, Lincy enjoyed playing cards, crafting, sewing, listening to music and watching westerns. She had a big heart and never failed to extend a helping hand whenever possible. Lincy greeted everyone she met with a friendly smile and conversation. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Lincy is survived by her three children, daughter Lincy Ana Maria Harding, 55, son Lloyd George Smith III, 53 and daughter Celia Ann Willis, 51 all of Fresno. She has one granddaughter, Alexandria B. Harding, 29 of Fresno. Lincy is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Bishop of Fresno, Jonnie Mae Middleton-Lotte of Springfield, Missouri, niece Franciena Freeman of Las Vegas, Nevada and many other nieces and nephews.
Lincy was preceded in death by her mother Francis, her father Robert, sisters Wilma Silva and Earlean Gills, and brother Audrey Sowell.
Although the spaces she occupied are a little emptier now, our hearts are filled with the love she left behind. Just as Jesus went home to prepare a place beside him, she goes on to prepare a place for us beside her.
