Lorraine Inouye, beloved wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Lorraine was born on November 20, 1935, in Fresno, California, and grew up on the family farm in Caruthers. She became a registered nurse in 1958. While attending nursing school, she met Yukio Inouye, the love of her life. They were married on February 22, 1958, and together raised five children. She was her children’s biggest supporter throughout their years of sports and academic activities.
Lorraine was the heart of family gatherings, sharing her exquisite Japanese dishes and amazing home-baked cakes. Always thinking of others, she lovingly gifted hand-crocheted booties and her world-famous strawberry jam.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her daughter, Gayle Inouye Guenther, who passed away in 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Yukio; her four sons and their spouses: Greg and Woodie; Scott and Sharon; Darrel and Stephanie; and Les and Susie; her two brothers and their spouses, Ray and Mitsuko Fujita, and Bob and Sharon Fujita; as well as 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 22 nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Marina C. and Reyna R., who continue to support Yukio.
