Ludwig is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemarie, his parents, Otto and Frieda, and his sisters, Gertrud, Ruth, and Regina, and brothers, Wolf Dieter and Otto. He leaves behind his 5 children, Peter (Pam), Daniel (Christie), David (Karen), Julie (Fernando), and Steven and his sister, Barbara (John). Rosemarie and Ludwig are also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ludwig led a life of service and blessed many individuals and organizations. He served our nation in the Army for 21 years, stationed in many locations around the world, including two tours in Viet Nam. For his dedicated military service, he was recognized on numerous occasions, including receiving the Soldier’s Medal and the Bronze Star Medal, both awarded for heroism.
After retiring from the Army, he worked another 30 plus years at the U.S. Postal Service. Outside of his professional work, he served faithfully in many callings and assignments with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A significant part of this service included many volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). He was recognized by the BSA with the Silver Beaver Award, for his outstanding longtime service to youth. He was also passionate about genealogy, spending hundreds of hours researching his ancestors.
The viewing will be held on January 3, 2026, at 9:30 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 45 N. Fowler, Clovis, CA (corner of Sierra). The viewing will be followed by the service at 11:00 am at the same location.
