Mary was born August 10, 1940 in Campbell, MO to Rodney and Lucretia Brown. She moved to Fresno County in 1963 and remained there until her death.
Mary is remembered throughout Clovis as "the face of Peacock Market," a position from which she retired in 1999. Mary was recognized, approached and lovingly embraced during every outing until the day she passed.
In 1982, Mary married Gene Garcia. The couple spent 37 years together and were rarely seen apart from one another.
Mary and Gene began attending Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Clovis, in 2009. Mary loved to greet and welcome all new guests. She treasured her time with the Ladies of Grace as she served her church and community, all while growing in her faith and her love for our Lord.
Mary's greatest treasures on earth were her children and her grandchildren. Every moment she spent with them was etched in her memory. She leaves behind a great void in the lives of her family and extended family.
Mary is survived by her children: Gene Johnson and his wife, Tracy, of Madera; Danelle Crane and her husband, Alan, of Clovis; and Nicole Nathan of Oregon.
Mary further leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sisters who are her best friends: Joan Wilkie of Upland; Carol Bledsoe and her husband, Lee, of Bakersfield; and Kathy Moore and her husband, Don, of Taft.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jim Wilkie.
Mary's family will forever keep her memory alive.
