At the time of Ray’s birth on May 27, 1937, his parents Russell and Catheryn were living Oilton, Oklahoma. When Ray was only two, his folks packed up the family and moved out to the Red Top Ranch in Chowchilla, California. Prior to graduating Chowchilla High school and ensuing thereafter, Ray worked for the Forrest Service as a firefighter stationed at the then new Ahwahnee station. After several years with the Forrest Service, Ray landed a job as a lineman with Pacific Bell. In time, Ray took a position inside as a Central Office technician where he continued until his retirement in 1990.
Ray kept busy through the years serving as a deacon and greeter in his local church. His love for people and fellowship afforded him the opportunity to minister to the elderly via phone calls, get-togethers and countless visits to the Ewing Wing.
Ray is survived by his wife Phyllis. His four daughters and their husbands; Laura and Paul Standen, Kathy and Paul Laymon, Pamela and Timothy Hanson and Michele and Eyan Linn. 15 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with one on the way. Also, his sister Loretta Sue Franzblau.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother Don.
