Verna Pauline Bacorn, age 96, of Clovis, California entered into rest on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Verna was born in Golden, Oklahoma and had lived a remarkable life filled with love, resilience, and independence.
A true spitfire, Verna was known for her stubbornness and strong spirit. She marched to the beat of her own drum, demonstrating unwavering independence throughout her life. A great cook, she delighted her family with homemade tacos every Saturday for 50 years. Verna had a passion for canning, gardening, and crafting, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing in her youth.
Verna loved old country and gospel music, and her heart of gold shone brightly through her many caring actions.
Verna will be dearly missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Verna is survived by her children: Marie Smithey, David Bacorn, Johnny Bacorn, Martha Rich, Janet Love, and Michael Bacorn. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, O.J. Bacorn, her son Larry Bacorn, and her daughter Sylvia Bacorn.
A Graveside Service to honor Verna’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Fresno Memorial Gardens, located at 175 South Cornelia Avenue, Fresno, California 93706.
