He honorably served in the United States Airforce until January 24, 1964. He lived briefly in California till moving back to Texas. After serving, he then started his career with Dow Chemical, working for 27 years until his retirement, where he was then given the title ‘Popo’, given to him by his grandchildren. Tony was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and an active member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed taking care of his grandsons while regularly attending each of their baseball and football games, supporting them all the way! He enjoyed carpentry and building model airplanes for his church and would build several other wonderful items for his community and his family. What he enjoyed the most was being “Popo” to his 4 grandchildren and watching the Astros!
“My Popo was kind, generous, and patient, who showed unconditional love for others by placing them before himself, no matter who they were or what they needed. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and nothing he couldn’t learn for his friends and family because he was a selfless person at heart. With every person he helped, he showed us all that there is nothing in the world more important than each other. Which is why we must take care of each other, for him, because it’s what he would’ve wanted for us. With each life he impacted, Popo will forever inspire us all to be best we can be not for ourselves, but for each other. Until we meet again.” Written by Alexander Gamboa, grandson.
