Barbara Joyce Mahurin

Barbara Joyce Mahurin of West Columbia, Texas, passed away on May 21st, 2026 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on November 8th, 1940, to the late Ellis and Katie Miller. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by Sonny, her husband of 65 years, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, great granddaughter Channing Lace Huffman, her grandson Josh Huffman and son-in-law Bubba Huffman.

She is survived by her daughter Kim Huffman and her children Matt Huffman, Katelyn Bennett (Jacob) and Kristyn (DIL). Her son William Mahurin II, wife Diann and children William III (Heather), Amber Ramsey (Lionel), Colton Capell and McKenzie. Her son Kevin Mahurin, wife Michelle and their children Hannah, Sarah (Josh) and Sydney. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.

Joyce loved her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She made many close friends as a proud member of her Quilting Bee. In her younger years she loved to go camping with family and friends. Joyce and her family moved to West Columbia, Texas in 1976, however she made many trips back home to Missouri to visit her family. 

Serving as pallbearers are Matt Huffman, Billy Mahurin, Brandon Whatley, Adrien Dougharty, Lionel Ramsey and Hayden Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Gower, BD Mahurin, Chuck Eaves and Doug Eaves.

Services will be held Wednesday May 27th at;

New Shores Church, 6303 FM 1459, Sweeny, Texas.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 with her service to follow at 1:00 with graveside service immediately following. Flowers can be sent to Restwood Funeral Home 1038 W Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531

All family and friends are invited back to New Shores Church to enjoy a meal together to celebrate her life immediately after the graveside service.
