

Bethany Kay Wines, a 6th grader at Rasco Middle School, was born September 9, 2000 in Lake Jackson, Texas and passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, after a month long battle with liver cancer. She enjoyed hunting, fishing with her dad and brother and camping with her family and friends. She loved every minute of her six years of softball with the Lake Jackson Softball Association and was just recently made an Honorary Team Member of the 2013 University of Houston Cougar Softball team. Bethany consistently maintained an A average in school, where she was loved by students and teachers alike. In October 2012, Bethany won a Blue Ribbon at the Brazoria County Fair Student Art Contest for her “Wheat Fields” and in January her artwork “Hidden in The Sunflowers” was selected by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest and is now on display on the rodeo grounds. While in the hospital, representatives from the art show presented her a Gold Medal from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for her award winning artwork. Bethany loved spending time with her dogs, Rayford, Roxie and Baylee. She enjoyed producing videos with her cousin Camille and her BFF’s Haley and Taylor Helms and taught her niece, Kimora how to become an expert at the wii and Mario Brothers. Her favorite past-times were cooking with Granmama, Rachel Wines and spending weekends at her Great-Grandma Mensik’s farm and waking up to her special hot cakes. She was preceded in death by her Grandfather, Ronald Wines, her Great-Great Aunt Jewel Millstid, Great Grandparents, Gene & Tonie Christen; Silvin & Martha Mensik; Alvin & Crickett Tipton; Clarence & Lorene Tiller, and Great-Uncle James Ohnheiser. Bethany is survived by her dad, Jarrod Wines and wife Tracy, her mother Susie Hackler and husband Gary; her big brother Blake, step sisters Chelsea Quave, Devin Quave and Lori Hackler; Also Grandparents, Ernie & Dottie Mensik, Granmama Rachel Wines, Paul and Sylvia Edwards, and Margaret Hackler; Uncle Darren Wines and Aunt Carolyn, Aunt Lisa Matzke and Uncle Craig, Great Aunt Teresa Kerr and Great Uncle Kent, Uncle Terry Edwards and Aunt Julie, Great-Uncle Dan Tipton and Aunt Sharon, Great-Great Uncle Gaston Millstid, Great-Aunt Gloria Miksch and Great-Uncle Henry, Great Uncle Tom Mensik and Great Aunt Gerry, Great Aunt Helen Ohnheiser, Great Uncle Don Christen and Great Aunt Mary Jane. Numerous cousins include Rachel Kerr, Chase, Chelsea and Camille Matzke, Hunter and Colby Hughes, and Lindsey Edwards. Nieces include Emmaleigh Isias and Kimora Quave, and nephews Myles Quave and Kaine Isias.
