Carol "Red" David Evans

Carol “Red” David Evans, 83, of Clute, passed away peacefully at his home October 8, 2013, with his family by his side. Visitation will be Friday, October 11 from 6 to 9 P.M. and the funeral service will be Saturday, October 12 at 11:00 A.M. Both will be at The Rock Church, Clute, Texas.

Carol was born December 29, 1929 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Reverend J. W. and Mamie Hughes Evans. He moved from Arkansas, to Louisiana, and to Texas in 1953 to begin his tenure with Dow Chemical, retiring after 41.2 years as an operator in Magnesium 1. He was a member of The Rock Church serving in many areas, bus ministry, Sunday school teacher, janitor, groundskeeper, maintenance, song leader, usher, peanut brittle maker, trustee and father to all, extending discipline if necessary. Carol lived to serve his Creator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. As a father & grandfather, he was firm but fair, teaching by example, honesty, integrity, work ethics, love, humanity and last but not least, common sense. His pride and joy was his family and garden. Hours and hours were spent preparing the soil, even traveling to Arkansas to haul dirt back to Texas. He could “fix” anything. He will be missed by numerous family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife and forever girlfriend, Esther; his parents; sister, Maxine Harris and brother, James Evans. Carol and Esther would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in August.

Survivors include his children, Janet (Roger) Frederick, Ronald (Gena) Evans and Mike Wiede; grandchildren, Mark (Cheri) Evans, Matthew (Ashley) Walker, Heather Frederick, Brandon (Naomi) Evans and Brian Wiede; great-grandchildren, Emerson and Chantry Evans, James Matthew Walker and Matthew Edge; sisters, Carolyn (Gene) Richard and Marilyn Willis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
