Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman—a devoted guiding light and a pillar of strength to so many.
Her journey began in the small town of Kanimangalam, India, in April 1935 where she was raised with humble beginnings. She pursued her education with determination, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and education, and began her teaching career at a high school in Trivandrum. In 1961, she married Moyalan Thomas, beginning a beautiful partnership that stood the test of time. Together, they built a life in Cuttack, Orissa, where they raised their family—two sons and a daughter—with unwavering love and steadfast discipline. She was a loving and caring mother who wanted only the best for her children. She believed in hard work, perseverance, and the transformative power of education. These values weren’t just passed down to her children; they extended to her nieces and nephews, all of whom benefited from her wisdom, generosity, and her quiet, behind-the-scenes leadership.
In Cuttack, she continued her teaching career at Stewart School, where her dedication and passion saw her rise to become principal before her retirement in 1996. She was well-loved by all her students, many of whom kept in touch with her throughout the years.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A committed member of the local church, she played an instrumental role in establishing the Divine Mercy feast, a testament to her deep spiritual commitment.
After retiring, she and our father chose to return to their roots in Kerala. Later, they joined their children in the United States in 2000. Yet, no matter where life took her, her love for her family remained her greatest legacy.
She found immense joy in her grandchildren:
· Her eldest son, Dr. Antony Thomas, and his wonderful wife, Nirmala, blessed her with Asha, Anju, Christopher, Annie, and Tessie.
· Her second son, Joseph Santosh Thomas, and his beautiful wife, Dr. Elizebath Shiny Thomas gave her Maria and Lisa.
· Her beloved daughter, Dr. Annie Seema Michaels, and her husband, Maijo Michaels, brought her the joy of Matthew, Tom, and John.
She was a woman of quiet strength who always led by example. Her wisdom, integrity, and unwavering love will remain etched in our hearts forever.
Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the values she instilled, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely. On November 28, 2025 she joined our dear father, her soulmate, for eternity. He began his journey to be with our Lord Jesus on August 7th, 2025.
Today, as we say goodbye, we do not mourn a life lost—we celebrate a life so beautifully lived. We take comfort in knowing her legacy will continue through each of us: in the lessons she taught, the kindness she showed, and the love she shared without condition.
Rest in peace, dear Mother. You will be forever in our hearts.
