Ellis Joseph Roundtree Jr.

Ellis was born to Ellis Sr. and Hazel Roundtree on 7/29/39 in Schriever, LA.

Ellis married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Braud, in Thibodaux, LA on 1/17/59. Ellis worked 35 years as a Boilermaker/Blacksmith/Welder in Local Union 682 retiring from Dow Chemical, Freeport, TX in 1995 to care for his wife, Jo.

As a young man, Ellis received his Holy sacraments in the Catholic Church. He graduated from Thibodaux high school in 1957, attended Francis T. Nicholls Junior College on bayou LaFourche in Thibodaux, LA. He truly enjoyed carpentry, tinkering, dancing with family and friends in his pointed toe boots, and riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle. Dad was a Master Welder. He was a very helpful man, strong in character, super reliable, and always available to help anyone in need. Ellis was a very resourceful man, an ability he passed on to his four sons. He was excellent at repairing mechanical things. His favorite tool to use when something needed one last fixin’ was his trusty ol’ 4 pound hammer, one final lick and then in the trash it went. With that little grin of his, Dad would always say, “If I can’t fix it, nobody else will!”

Ellis was preceded in Death by his wife, Jo Ann (Braud) Roundtree, his parents, Ellis Sr. and Hazel Roundtree, His brothers Jerry Patrick Roundtree and David Denis Roundtree.

Ellis is survived by his sons Todd (Doanie), Ted (Daniel), Troy, and Trent (Dana), his grandchildren Callen Cole Roundtree, Rhett Ellis Roundtree, and Sarah Jo Roundtree, his sisters Linda Knight, Claire Poirrier, and Sue (Dean) Bourgeois. Ellis is also survived by his wife Mary Sue (Borel) Roundtree.

Serving as pallbearers are the Roundtree men, Todd, Ted, Troy, Trent, Callen and Rhett.

Arrangements are at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 West Plantation Dr. Clute, TX.

Visitation will be 11:00am to 1:00pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm on Friday, March 25th 2022.
