On June 10, 1932, in White Castle, LA, Ellis Hunter Sheridan, Jr. entered this world. With his father working in the oilfield, he spent his childhood in Louisiana and Texas. At age 4, he serendipitously attended a birthday party for a little girl, Gwendolyn Amedée, who would eventually become the love of his life. His family settled in the Houston area where he attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Hunter continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin. During the summer of his Junior year at UT, he was reintroduced to Gwen. After graduating in January, 1955, they were married the following February 5th, and began their family. Hunter had a successful career working in the oilfield and traveled the world, eventually holding various senior executive and leadership roles.
Hunter settled on family land in Brazoria County with Gwen, and eventually retired there in 2004. In his free time he enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, cooking, and spending time with family
and friends. His final 18 months were spent in the Atlanta area with his youngest son’s family. He left this world on August 19, 2021, at the age of 89.
