

Geraldine Hall “Gerry” Snyder passed away on Friday, December 31, 2010 at her home in Riverwalk Commons, Noblesville, Indiana at age 89. She was born in Robstown, Texas on October 28, 1921 to Henry Winston Hall and Bertha Lee Hall. She grew up in Houston; graduating from John H. Reagan High School in 1939 and on September 7, 1940 married Richard LaReign Snyder of Logansport, Indiana. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his death in 2007. Gerry and her husband moved to Lake Jackson, Texas in 1945, where their sons Ric and Tim were born. In 1980 she retired from Dow Chemical Company as a computer systems analyst after 20 years of service. Gerry was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson, serving on the Administrative Board and Council on Ministries and for 7 years as coordinator of the Pastoral Care Program. She was an avid knitter and very much enjoyed her years of participation in the Tipsy Quilters quilting group. In addition to the Quilters, Gerry cherished the fellowship of her friends in the Wayfarers Sunday School class and P.E.O., where she served for 3 years as chapter president and as State Historian from 1992-1993. Gerry served on the Lake Jackson Parks and Recreation Board for 9 years, and was a member of the Brazosport Genealogical Society, the Brazosport Art League, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Richard LaReign Snyder, her father, H.W. Hall, her stepfather, V.W. Parker, and her mother, Bertha Parker. She is survived by her sons, Ric Snyder and wife, Charlotte, of Noblesville, Indiana, and Tim Snyder and wife, Sherri, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; granddaughter, Bree Anne Rummel and husband, Jason, of Fishers, Indiana; grandsons, Brad Snyder and wife, Courtney, of Columbus, Ohio, Layne and Blake Snyder of Lawrenceville, Georgia; great-grandson Lawson Rummel of Fishers, Indiana; sister-in-law, Eileen VanHoy; and nieces, Jackie Evans, Judy Evans, and Jill VanHoy of Fort Worth, Texas. Gerry was greatly loved by her family and many friends, who will remember her for her faith, love, and compassion for others. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverwalk Commons for the care and support given to Gerry over the last two years. Special thanks to the many new friends she made at Riverwalk Commons in Indiana. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 404 Azalea St. in Lake Jackson at 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, and will be led by Rev. Ross Poteet and Pastor Charles Geller. Contributions can be made in Gerry’s memory to First United Methodist Church, Lake Jackson, or to a charity of your choice.
