Gladys Maxine Lemley Jones

Gladys Maxine Lemley Jones was born in Van Buren, Arkansas on June 1, 1927. She graduated from Van Buren High School in Arkansas. She passed away in Lake Jackson, Texas, in the Hospital on July 4, 2014, at the age of 87. She was the eldest daughter of the late Ray J and Nettie Leola “Tootsie” Daugherty Lemley.

Maxine married September 23, 1953, to the “Love of Her Life”, Henry Clay Jones ~~ they have been married for 60 ¾ years. She is a blessing to all and we are very grateful to have her in our lives. She was a loving wife and a kind, caring and great mother! Her life was her family! She worked at Safeway in the Flower Department for a short period after raising her children.

She is survived by her Loving Husband, Henry Clay Jones of Lake Jackson; her 3 Children: Sandra Rae Jones Benke (Dale) of Spring, Texas; Melody Ann Jones Martin (Teddy) of Brazoria, Texas; and Benton Clay Jones (Gloria) of Richwood, Texas.

She is also survived by her 6 Grandchildren: Rachel Dale Benke Harrell (Ryan) of Tomball, Texas; Russell Ray Benke (Kristen) of The Woodlands, Texas; Justin Clay Martin (Angela) of Brazoria, Texas; Lori Ann Martin Boring (Jeremiah) of Brazoria, Texas; Matthew Clay Jones (Bri) of Inez, Texas; and Regina Moreno VanAvery (Ben) of Missouri City, Texas.

And 10 ½ Great Grandchildren: Twins-Hailey Ryan & Hannah Rae Harrell, Twins-Ethan Dean & Emma Dale Harrell, Twins-Kyle Wesley & Bradley Russell Benke, Kaele Ann Martin, Jereth Wayne Boring, Jalynn Faye Boring, Zane VanAvery and Baby Jones due soon.

Pallbearers will be: Justin Martin, Russell Benke, Matthew Jones, Ryan Harrell, Jeremiah Boring and Ben VanAvery.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm, Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Restwood Funeral Home until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m.
