Huwanta was as unique as her name; one of a kind; raised among four rowdy brothers with who she could hold her own. She was born July 29, 1938 in a small rustic home with no electricity, water or plumbing on a small ranch called The Flying M, several miles west of Newcastle, Texas at the confluence of Elm Creek and the Brazos River. Huwanta was a superb athlete and an even better scholar; acknowledged as the smartest in the family. She could and should have been a physician as her diagnosis and proposed treatment were spot on.
Huwanta and Roy were married in 1971 and made a home in the countryside, on the northeast side of Norman, Oklahoma. Huwanta was a devoted wife and excellent homemaker and always decorated their home over the top for the holidays. She loved and doted on her two sons Dana and Sean. While readily acknowledging her desire for a daughter, she lavished love and attention on her many nieces.
Huwanta developed many skills, including becoming a gourmet cook of a wide variety of dishes, but especially know for exquisite desserts. After raising her sons, she attended University of Oklahoma and received her B.A. and M.A. in Education/Psychology. Huwanta loved the Lord and she shared that love with scores of children in the Sunday School classes she taught for decades at First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Huwanta and Roy traveled the globe by air, land and sea where they made many friends along the way. Huwanta was an avid snow skier, a sport she and Roy enjoyed together on their many trips to Colorado. They loved their home in Norman, but made a move in 2022 to be near family in southeast Texas.
Huwanta was preceded in death by her sons Dana Ingram and Sean Ingram, her brother, Cary Myatt and parents, HL and Velma Myatt of Altus, Oklahoma.
Huwanta is survived by her loving husband, Roy Blasius of Clute, Texas, formerly of Norman, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Ingram of Clute and grandchildren Darren and Michelle and their families, daughter-in-law, Sue Ingram of Lancaster and grandchildren Ian and Jake and their families. She was so proud of all the grandkids and loved becoming a great grandmother to four. She will be missed by her brothers and sisters-in law, Jimmy and Janice Myatt, Ramsey and Rosita Myatt, Roger and Alicia Myatt and their families. Gratitude is extended to her excellent caregivers, Estella Ortega and Veronica Billagran.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
