Joe Rex Epps

April 14, 1922 – January 1, 2022

Rex was born in Sudan, Texas, the youngest of eight. He was raised on the family farm outside of Normangee, Texas. Rex attended Sam Houston State University and then worked at Dow Chemical for 34 years. In 1968 he founded Scientific Glass and Plastics Co. which incorporated as S.G. & P. He retired fully in 1985.

Following his return from WWII on Christmas Eve 1945 Rex married June Weidig. June passed away in 1978; and in 1980 Rex married his second love, Bonnie Rivers. Rex was very involved in his family, his church and his community throughout his long life.

We love him and will miss him very much. God bless you Dad. We know that you are in the room Christ has prepared.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife, June; and daughter, Cindy.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Khan (Saeed); son, Joe Epps (Jody); stepdaughters, Cindy Guthrie (Scott) and Karen Baker (Jayme); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Joe will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Restwood Memorial Park, 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, Texas 77531.
