John Edgar Buford

John Edgar Buford, of Rosharon, was born June 18, 1942 in Freeport, Texas to Crawford and Marie Gundy Buford and died April 5, 2011 at his home at the age of 68 years. Mr. Buford retired from the Texas Department of Corrections, after many years serving as a correctional officer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in where he assisted with disaster relief, cooking and serving meals. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and BBQ’s. He cherished his time with his children, family, and friends. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he was a member of a vertical assault team. He married Carol Robin Selstad on April 25, 1981 in Angleton, Texas. His mother, Marie Buford, preceded him in death on April 16, 2009 and his father, Crawford Buford, preceded him in death on April 4, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Carol Robin Buford of Rosharon; daughters, Janet Sossamon and her husband, Richard of Temple, Texas, Kari Gaynor and her husband, Johnathan of Abilene, Texas, Kristi Buford of Angleton, Texas; brother, David Buford and his wife, Tammy of Magnolia, Texas and a sister, Patricia Krsak and her husband Tom of Angleton, Texas. Family will receive friends, Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 West Plantation Drive, Clute, Texas. Graveside services will be at 9:30 am, Saturday, April 9, 2010 at the outdoor chapel in Restwood Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps.
