While a lifelong resident of Lake Jackson, he stayed true to his Louisiana roots through the years. He loved crawfish boils, his mom’s gumbo and fried chicken, and rowdy family game nights of Booray around the kitchen table. He was a skilled pipefitter by trade, devoting many years to working at Dow Chemical, and was a proud member of the united association of pipefitters belonging to local union 211. Easily recognizable by his deep baritone voice, Larry volunteered through the years as a coach for many teams that his boys played on. He made lasting memories with his family teaching his boys how to crab, floating the Comal River, and taking roads trips from California to North Carolina, with his favorite trip being getting back to Louisiana to visit family. He instilled a love of smoking meats on the pit in both of his boys that began with the tradition of smoking a turkey overnight each Thanksgiving. Larry loved his food, eating oysters by the dozen and meringue pies baked by his wife. An amazing pool player, he loved to spend time with family and friends at Winnie’s, known affectionately there as Uncle Larry. As soon as he would walk in the door, a beer would be ordered and quarters placed on the table to be in line for next game.
His wife and his sons find solace in knowing that he was reunited with his two brothers who he loved, admired, and missed dearly.
Larry was welcomed into heaven by his family who preceded him in death: father Harold Savant; mother Myrtle Savant; brother Dale Savant; brother Glenn Savant; nephew Shawn Savant; niece Karen Savant.
Larry is survived by his wife Melissa; son Lance Savant and wife Molly; son Bradley Savant and wife Lindsey; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb 22nd from 1pm to 3pm at Dignity Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 West Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531.
