Margaret was born to Jose and Micaela Senteno on June 24, 1930 in Ricardo, Texas. She married Gonzalo T. Garcia in Freeport, TX on June 25, 1950. In her younger years, Margaret was a housewife and full-time mother to 5 children. She later worked at Brazosport Memorial Hospital for 33 years until she retired.
Margaret Garcia was a true matriarch of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and woman of strong faith. Her family was her heart and her greatest joy. She loved gardening and working outside in her yard. She always enjoyed dancing and instilled that in her daughters, granddaughters and now great granddaughters. She was a character and enjoyed posing for pictures and being silly with all the kids. From helping to raise her siblings to cooking the requested favorite meals of her children and grandchildren, Margaret was a caretaker at heart.
Margaret is joined in heaven with her husband of 63 years, Gonzalo T. Garcia; parents, Jose & Micaela Senteno; her brothers, Luis Banda Centeno and Felix Centeno.
She is survived by her siblings; Roberto Centeno, Adolfo Centeno, David Centeno, Mary Bakhru, and Joe Centeno; her children, Gonzalo S. (Janie) Garcia, Jr.; JC (Linda) Garcia; Marty Garcia; Mary Anne Ramos; Esther (Ralph, Sr.) Ramos; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are, Michael Ramos, Ruben Ramos, Ralph Ramos, Jr., Jason Barton, Roland, Ramos, Marty Garcia, Jr., and Andy Garcia.
Margaret will forever be missed but will continue to live on in the memories we hold close to our hearts.
Viewing and a Rosary will be held at Dignity Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm. Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 with a procession from Dignity Funeral to St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church. The procession will begin at 9:15am with the church service to follow at 10:00am. We welcome you to join the family in a celebration of her life after the church service in St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
