

Mary Stiene Hausl, age 98, passed into eternal life on Monday, February 13, 2012. She was born on November 8, 1913 to George and Maria (Schauer) Stiene in Reichenau, Gottschee, Austria, which is now Slovenia.She immigrated from her small village to the USA, arriving in Brooklyn, New York on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1937, and always regarded this as the happiest day of her life. On November 21, 1942 Mary married Markus Hausl and together shared more than 50 years of marriage residing on Long Island, New York and in New Jersey. In 1997 Mary moved to Lake Jackson, Texas to be closer to family.Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, as well as all her brothers, Philip, Joseph, and Friedrich Stiene, and all her sisters Pauline Schneider, Emma Luscher, and Anna Tummes.Mary leaves behind her daughter Anne Bettinger and son-in-law, George, three grandsons, Daniel Bettinger and wife, Margaret, Matthew Bettinger and wife, Imelda, and Christopher Bettinger and fiancé, Teresa Tao, as well as great- grandsons, Mason Bettinger, Jack Bettinger, and Ethan Bettinger, great granddaughter, Hannah Bettinger and step great-granddaughter, Elizabeth D. Garcia-Rios, as well as nieces and nephews.Visitation is on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Lake Jackson, Texas followed by a Rosary. Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Mary’s life will be at 10:30 AM with interment immediately following at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson.
