Dwight grew up in Plainview, Texas, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1962. Dwight loved music and sang in choirs during his school years. He had a lovely tenor singing voice. After graduating from high school, Dwight attended West Texas State University for two years, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. When he returned to Plainview, he began working for Best Fertilizer and during this time he formed a band with friends. Dwight was the drummer and lead singer and they played at events in towns around the Panhandle. Dwight was later transferred to Houston, where he worked for Occcidental Chemical in accounting. He provided accounting at additional companies, as well as various jobs of interest throughout his career.
While living in Houston, Dwight married and raised his family. In later years, he took up scuba diving and very much enjoyed trying his hand at the culinary arts. He moved to West Columbia, Texas with his wife where he later retired.
Dwight died on November 15, 2023 at his home in West Columbia, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, and his son Jeff. He is survived by his daughter, Holly Sansing and her husband John of Pasadena, Texas, his grandson, Zachary Sansing of Pasadena, Texas, his sister Jean Liles and her husband Jay of Houston, Texas, and his brother Van Perry and his wife Sheila of Dallas, Texas.
A memorial services will be held at Gateway Community Church, 760 Clear Lake City Boulevard, Webster, TX 77598 at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
