

Roy Brooks (R. B.) Runnels Jr., 74, of Angleton, TX passed away peacefully with his children at his side on Wednesday, May 25 in Pearland TX. Roy was born to Roy and Pearl Runnels on December 13, 1936 in Lyford, TX. After graduating from Brazosport High School he married his one true love Brenda Maples. He worked in the boilermaker shop at Dow Chemical for 39 years. He was an active member of BrazosPointe Fellowship and was a member of the local Masonic Lodge. The most enjoyable moments of Roy’s life were spent with the love of his life, Brenda and his children and grandchildren. He cherished them and they were his greatest passion. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Brenda Maples; his parents, Roy and Pearl Runnels; sister Jean McGill. Roy’s greatest legacy leaves behind his devoted and caring children daughter Cheryl Mikulencak and husband Tony of Angleton ,TX; daughter Carol Holmes and husband Bob of Bryan, TX; daughter Donna Nash and husband Wayne of Plano, TX; and son Brooks Runnels and wife Laura of Pearland, TX. “Pawpaw” will be deeply missed by each of his grandchildren Shelly Schreiber, Cody Mikulencak, Leslie Gottlieb, Haley Holmes, Michael Nash, Kristen Nash, Kathleen Nash, R. B. Runnels IV, and Will Runnels, and five great grandchildren; Jack Schreiber, Payne Schreiber, Kate Schreiber, Max Gottlieb and Zoey Gottlieb. He will also be missed by sisters, Wanda Johnson and Mattie Goodrum and several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Miki Myers for the special care given during the final months of Roy’s life. Visitation will be held Friday evening, May 27, 2011, from 5 – 7 pm with the funeral service to be officiated by Randy Dane starting at 2 pm on Saturday May 28th.
