

William “Bill” Oscar Biggs, Sr. was called home to heaven on March 12, 2024 at the age of 84. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on September 12, 1939 (although he claims he was born at home on 09/11/1939). He moved to Texas at age 12 and lived in the Brazosport area for most his adult life. He went by and answered to many names, William, Bill, Billy, Little Biggs, Art, Boss, Mr. Bill, Mr. Biggs, Dad, Daddy-O, grandpa, and Pops just to name a few.
Bill was multifaceted man with a zest for life. He was a very talented artist and was also musically inclined (piano player). He had a beautiful singing voice, he danced, gardened and loved to cook. He especially enjoyed canning tomatoes and vegetables that he grew from his garden. In high school, he played the French horn in band, was student council president and a proud member of DECA (Distributive Education) as well as being an Eagle Scout. He was very driven, most likely due to being reared during the war years (WW2). He loved gadgets and technology. He bought the first calculator, movie cameras, computers, and any other gadget that came along.
His first job (at age 4 or 5) was “Little Biggs Delivery Service” where he delivered groceries/laundry for his neighbors and after moving to Texas he worked in his father’s sign shop growing up. After a 20 year stint as the store manager of Weingarten’s grocery store, he decided to then become the second generation owner of Art’s Sign Service where he served the community until he turned over the business to the 3rd generation owners (his children) in 2021. He was very involved with his Brazosport graduating class of 1957, the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Fishing Fiesta, his church and his family. He loved fishing, playing cards (bridge) dominoes (42) and he LOVED his DOGS. Gator, Radar, Minnie, and Oreo ,who he fostered in her later years. He became friends with many of the crossing guards and walkers on the parkway that he traveled daily on Oyster Creek drive and Yaupon street. He loved to honk his bike horn at passers by.
In 1960 he married the first love of his life Barbara (Brooks) Biggs. He had a great sense of humor and they loved to dress up for St. Patrick’s Day along with other parties they attended. They fished, danced, played cards, and dominoes together with friends and family and also traveled the US as much as they could. Together they had 2 children, William O. Biggs, Jr. and Lisa Marie (Biggs) Kramer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Marie Biggs. His wife of nearly 54 years, Barbara (Brooks) Biggs, his brothers James “Jim” Biggs and Charles “Chuck” Biggs. He is survived by his sisters, Cecil (Biggs) Mock of Virginia, Linda (Biggs) Paulk & husband Wesley Sr., his 2 children William O. Biggs, Jr, his daughter Lisa (Biggs) Kramer & husband Tripp. He has 4 grandchildren, Josh Farquharson & wife Elizabeth, Jessica Scoggin & husband Fred, Jacob Farquharson & wife Kayla and Jonathan Farquharson & wife Sydni along with one step grandchild Quade Kramer, 9 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and multitude of nieces/nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The last 10 years of his life he enjoyed the companionship of the second love of his life, Letha Kuck. Bill and Letha enjoyed dancing and spending quality time together. She has been very supportive and encouraging during his numerous health battles along with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral home (1038 W Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531) on Friday March 22nd from 5PM – 8PM and the funeral service will be held on March 23rd at 1PM with graveside service at 2PM.
