William G. “Sonny” Mahurin of West Columbia, Texas, passed away on August 17th, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Desloge, Missouri on August 31st, 1939, to the late William and Flora Mahurin. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, great granddaughter Channing Lace Huffman and son-in-law Bubba Huffman.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce Mahurin, daughter Kim Huffman and her children Josh (Kristyn), Matt (Allie) and Katelyn Bennett (Jacob). His son William Mahurin II wife Diann and children William III (Heather), Amber Ramsey (Lionel), Colton Capell and McKenzie. His son Kevin Mahurin (Michelle) and their children Hannah, Sarah and Sydney. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and two brothers Butch Mahurin and Jimbo Mahurin of Desloge, Missouri.
Sonny's love for the outdoors, quarter horses, deer hunting, camping with family and friends was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No 154 in Desloge, Missouri for over 60 years. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed his annual trips to the Missouri Ozarks for deer season with his family. He enjoyed showing horses in Missouri and was President of the local Saddle Club for many years. He moved his family to West Columbia, Texas in 1976. He was a member of IBEW LU 716 for over 45 years.
Serving as pallbearers are Josh Huffman, Matt Huffman, Billy Mahurin, Colton Capell, Adrien Dougharty, and Rick Gower. Honorary pallbearers are BD Mahurin, Chuck Eaves, Doug Eaves and Jeremy Dougharty.
Services will be held Wednesday August 23rd at;
New Shores Church

Sweeny, Texas.
