(January 12, 1957-February 3, 2015)
Gregory Alan Claassen, 58, passed away February 3, 2015, at his home in Coalinga, California with his family by his side.
Greg was born on January 12, 1957 in Templeton, California to Howard and Margret (Adams) Claassen. He married the love of his life, Libby, on October 14, 1995 and together they shared many wonderful years and created beautiful memories.
Greg was one of those people that everyone should have in their lives. He was kind, compassionate and truly didn’t know the definition of a stranger. He loved to golf and could often be found on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He was a lover of pets, especially his “dog daughters,” Alli and Tori and his torts, Vegas and Reno.
One of Greg’s favorite pastimes was travelling to Las Vegas with Libby and trying his luck at the roulette table, while Libby enjoyed the slots. He loved Las Vegas and Vegas loved him!
Greg had a unique sense of humor. Few of his friends escaped his pranks, which sometimes caused them great anguish. He was a “prank master,” going as far as disguising or blocking his phone number so that his victims would not be able to identify their caller. He took his prank game seriously and there was never a dull moment when he was around.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Libby Claassen; his mother, Margaret Vandergon; his brother Doug Rice; his four children, their spouses and his grandchildren: Ryan and Stacey Claassen (Ella Claassen); Bobbi and Tim Worth (Ryan, Tucker and Cooper Worth); Ken and Kristen Witt (Chisholm, Shelbee, Chantz, and Kennadee Witt); and Barbara Witt. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Claassen; brother, Tim Rohr; his son-in-law Frank Flores and granddaughter, Maczie Glyn Flores.
Greg Claassen was a wonderful man who positively influenced the lives of many. He is and will continue to be truly missed.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 beginning at 12 pm at the Elks Lodge in Coalinga, California. Greg was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, so please wear Packer gear in his honor.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Memorial - Coalinga Chapel, Coalinga, CA.
