Alicia Basurto Hall, age 97, of Titusville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 21, 1927, in Mexico City, Alicia was the beloved daughter of Procopio and Isabel (Picaseño) Basurto.
Alicia lived a full and meaningful life, known for her warmth, sense of humor, and deep love for her family. She grew up in Mexico City, and at age 31, she traveled to Kent State University in Ohio as part of a teacher exchange program. While attending classes, she met Ralph Hall, whom she married in 1959. Shortly after, they embarked on a journey that would take them across the world, living extensively in Southeast Asia.
Alicia was devoted to volunteer work. Among her numerous volunteer endeavors, she was recognized as one of the longest serving volunteers at Jess Parrish Medical Center. Though small in stature, she was strong, charismatic, and never hesitated to speak her mind. You could always count on her to share her opinion, often with humor and always with candor.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, watching her favorite telenovelas, spending time with her many friends, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren (and her cats).
Alicia is survived by her son, Steve; daughter, Sharon (Neal); her brother, Francisco, and extended family in Mexico; grandchildren, Sara (Roman), Anna, Maya, and Kate; and great-granddaughter, Romi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and daughter-in-law, Tanya.
A funeral mass for Alicia will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2309 Holder Road, Mims, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis Reflections of Titusville in her memory. https://reflectionslsc.org/donate/
Alicia’s love, humor, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. Her family finds peace in knowing she is reunited with Ralph and loved ones.
