

Andrew was born July 27, 1921 in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania. He was drafted to the Army Air Corps on his 21st birthday. He graduated top of his class in code school and soon was sent to Radar School. In Iceland, he and his team were responsible for intercepting code from the Germans. After a concussion from a bombing there, Andrew spend 6 months going through discharge process due to his knowledge in secret communications.
Assigned to Dublin, GA, he met his bride, Roberta. After living in NYC, NJ, and GA, Andrew settled his family in Cocoa, FL in 1956. He worked as an Air Traffic Control Operations Supervisor at Patrick Air Force Base. Upon retiring, Andrew enjoyed shrimping and providing friends and family with his fresh catch. As a very young man, Andrew was a jockey in Miami racing horses. He continued his love for horse racing and frequented Melbourne Kennel Club regularly. It was there that he developed wonderful friendships. Everyone knew Andy. He never met a stranger and enjoyed friendships of those from the Kennel Club, church friends from First Baptist Church of Cocoa, and most of all his Publix family from Rockledge Square Publix, where customers and employees knew Andy well and enjoyed his daily visits.
Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, parents, six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his son: Andrew Philip Catalfamo (Barbara) of Cocoa; daughter, Nancy Smith (Mark) of Mims; grandchildren: Allison and Karen Catalfamo; and sister, Rose Shenoski of Middlesex, NJ.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10 - 11AM followed by a funeral service at 11AM at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brevard Memorial Park where military honors will be presented.
