

Betty Joan Hinton Lemmon celebrated her 87th birthday in Heaven. She was born on Oct 19, 1937, and went to be with Jesus on Oct 19, 2024. She peacefully passed with family by her side in Merritt Island, FL, following a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease.
Betty was born in Butler, Ga and moved to Cocoa, Fl when she was 3 months old. She often shared many childhood memories of the time she spent in Cocoa Village.
Betty met her husband Gene Lemmon on the beach in Cocoa Beach, FL during her senior year at Cocoa High School. They married 2 days after her graduation on June 4, 1955 at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. In 1960 Betty and Gene settled in Merritt Island, FL. She was a loving homemaker to Gene and their 3 children. She always treasured having a large crowd of family and friends in her home, all were welcomed. Later years she worked at Cape Canaveral Hospital as a unit secretary where she made many special friendships.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Lemmon; Father James Hinton; Mother Elizabeth Vanatten Hinton; sister Shirley Jennings; brother Thomas Hinton and son Douglas James Lemmon.
She is survived by her children Gary Lemmon (Annette) of Merritt Island, FL; Darlene King (Edward) of Merritt Island, Florida; her grandchildren Stacey Presnell (Chris) of Mobile, AL; Shannon Willis (Logan) of Seminole, FL and Danielle Mowry (Kyle) of St Petersburg, FL; her sisters Ruth Perigo of Rockledge, FL and Margaret Wegley of New Bethlehem, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and dear friends.
Thank you to the many people that cared for and loved Betty over the years especially Cape Canaveral Hospital LAB, Dr Zimm’s office and Dr Brogan’s office. Thank you to Lynn Edgerton, Debbie Adams, and Dreama Poff for all your love, friendship and support over the years. You were a blessing to Betty. God Bless you all.

A visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953 with Funeral Services to follow. A committal service will occur from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM at Brevard Memorial Park, 320 Spring St, Cocoa, FL 32927.
