After his time in the USAF, Bobby worked for Pratt and Whitney in West Palm Beach, Florida; which is where he met his wife, Emma Elizabeth Airhart. They moved to California circa 1962 and Bobby tested the F-1 Engines used in the Saturn V rocket while working for Rocketdyne. Circa 1965, Bobby and his family moved back to Florida and he spent many years working with the Apollo & Space Shuttle programs. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma "Elizabeth" Airhart Ferrell and his sister Darris J. Davis. He is survived by two sons: Bobby Allen Ferrell (and his wife Ema) and Curtis Ramey Ferrell (and his wife Christina); sisters: Opal McDaniel, Aureila Little, Janette Jeffries; brother, Hasell Ferrell; grandchildren: Ryan Ferrell, Sean Ferrell, Beverly Gambrell, Tanya Morris, and Stephanie Kline; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
