Mr. Matthews served in the United States Army. James was a writer usually about his personal adventures and his time in Vietnam. He received a Masters Degree in Zoology. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and an avid supporter of nature organizations and writing clubs.
Preceded in death by one grandson. Survivors include his son Mark (Shirley); daughter Pam (David) Bruner; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home 11:00 – 12:00 with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
