He was born Oct.24, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph Cleveland and Brannie Dell Sutton. He grew up in Dade City, Florida and served 4 years in the Navy, during the Korean War. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville. Soon, he met and fell in love with Maxine North. Marriage followed and 3 beautiful children; Loraine, Don, and Bob.
After moving to Merritt Island he enjoyed working with the space program and retired after more than 30 yrs. He was always ready to help anyone at anytime; including many Kiwanis projects and Blood Drives. Dad enjoyed fishing and having a garden. Later in life, a few years after Maxine's death from heart disease, Jim married Jeanette Barthle, widow of Joe Barthle. When meeting with the priest before the wedding, they were asked how long they had known each other and they responded, "About 65 years, since kindergarten". Jim quickly got used to ranch life and especially appreciated being adopted into Jeanette's large family and being included in their constant activities.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his daughter Loraine Snyder and her husband David, his sons Don and Tia Sutton and Bob and Karen Sutton. Along with 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also his sister Betty Rosier and many nieces and nephews.
