On August 25, 2024, we had to say goodbye to Jean K. Armstrong Chandler of Cocoa, Florida who passed away peacefully surrounded by many family members. She was born on September 25, 1924, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frank and Nora Kennedy. Jean was one month short of reaching 100 years of age; for this reason, Funeral Services will be held on her 100th birthday when Family and Friends are invited to attend at 2:30PM on September 25 at Cocoa Presbyterian Church, 1404 Dixon Blvd, Cocoa, Florida.
Jean attended primary and university schools in Pennsylvania where she became a Registered Nurse before relocating to Sanford, Florida in 1946 then on to Cocoa, Florida in 1955. She professionally supported a group of OB-GYN physicians for more than 24 years in Cocoa and retired at age 72. Jean was a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for more than 70 years and a member of Cocoa Presbyterian Church where she held various church leadership positions.
Jean enjoyed time with her friends and family and certainly was the matriarch who frequently offered advice whether you wanted it or not. In many life events, she was strong and resilient and lovingly inspired five generations of descendants where she is survived by: her children, Jim Armstrong, John and Doree Armstrong, Jan and Paul Urrico, and Jeff and Heather Armstrong; her grandchildren, MaryJane C. Armstrong, Michael and Akasha Willis, Dawn Armstrong Garcia, Aimee and Cary Dilago, J’Aimee Carroll, John Andrew and LeAnna Armstrong, Zack Armstrong, Alexis and Jason Skipper and Rory Armstrong; her great grandchildren, Tyler Crosswhite, Daulton Crosswhite, Colton Dilago, Colby and Melody Dilago and Gigi Willis; and her great, great grandchildren Piper Dilago and Parker Dilago. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Nora Kennedy; her husband John Chandler; and three sisters and one brother.
